Membership

The National Association of Scholars is a network of scholars and citizens united by a commitment of academic freedom, disinterested scholarship, and excellence in higher education. Membership is open to all who share a commitment to these broad principles.

The Maryland Association of Scholars (MAS), an affiliate of the National Association of Scholars (NAS), has the goal of improving higher education in Maryland.

In recent years, the MAS has undertaken several projects, including two in-depth annual diversity reports on twelve public institutions in the University System of Maryland. To promote transparency, MAS has also made public records requests to the Maryland Board of Regents and the Maryland Office of the Attorney General seeking access to advice they provided to universities on how to comply with (or circumvent) the landmark 2023 Supreme Court decision Students for Fair Admissions v.
